Lake Placid and the Adirondacks

Join us on an adventure that will take you through some of the most stunning landscapes and historic sites in the Adirondacks! On this tour we’ll enjoy a three-night stay at the famed Grand Adirondack Hotel in Lake Placid. Explore the Veterans Memorial Highway, take a guided tour of Lake Placid, and discover the Olympic Center and Jumping Complex. Enjoy a lunch cruise on Raquette Lake and explore the region’s history at The Adirondack Experience Museum. This tour will be enhanced by local step-on guides who will provide insight and local knowledge. This tour will also include baggage handling, a welcome reception, three breakfasts, two dinners, one lunch, deluxe motor coach transportation and the services of a Cardinal/Lakeshore Tour Director. Please note that this is an active tour and is not suitable for those with mobility constraints. Walking tours are involved at several different sites.

Day 1 – Monday October 14, 2023 | Home to Lake Placid, NY (D)

Board our coach this morning at your pre-determined pickup location to make our way to Lake Placid, NY – situated in the stunning Adirondack mountains. Upon arrival in downtown Lake Placid, we’ll check in at the Grand Adirondack Hotel for a three night stay. Take time to relax and freshen up before gathering for a welcome dinner. The rest of the evening is yours to do as you please!

Day 2 – Tuesday October 15, 2023 | Veteran’s Memorial Highway & Olympic Sites (B, D)

Start your day with breakfast before taking a scenic drive up Veterans Memorial Highway to Whiteface Mountain’s summit for stunning vistas of the Adirondacks. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the Olympic Centre, where you’ll see plaques and banners celebrating the achievements of past Olympians. Explore the Olympic Centre’s skating rinks; including the historic Herb Brooks Arena, renowned for the “Miracle On Ice” game, and the speed skating Oval which regularly plays host to international competitions. Our journey continues to the Olympic Jumping Complex, a world renowned training ground for ski jumpers. Here, you’ll ascend to the sky deck of the impressive 128-meter ski jump via the recently renovated glass-sided scenic elevator. At the summit, the sky deck treats you to a 360-degree panoramic vista of Lake Placid. This evening we will return to the hotel to enjoy free time before reuniting for another delightful group dinner.

Day 3 – Wednesday October 16, 2023 | Lunch Cruise & Adirondack Experience (B, L)

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, meet your local step-on guide and depart for the beautiful Raquette Lake. As we drive through the Adirondack Mountains, you’ll have the chance to soak in the fall foliage. Upon arrival at Raquette Lake, we’ll enjoy a scenic cruise aboard the WW Durant. Enjoy breathtaking scenery and fascinating history while enjoying a delicious lunch. Following the cruise, enjoy a visit to The Adirondack Experience Museum. Perched on 121 sprawling acres overlooking the stunning Blue Mountain Lake, the Adirondack Experience tells the compelling story of the region’s past, present, and future with an immersive visitor experience. Explore their 24 galleries and historic buildings and meet boat builders and basket makers. Return to Lake Placid this evening and enjoy dining at one of the many wonderful restaurants along Main Street (on your own).

Day 4 – Thursday October 17, 2023 | Lake Placid to Home (B)

After breakfast at this hotel, we will depart for home! We will make comfort stops along the way including a stop at the American Duty Free for one final chance to shop before returning home to our original pickup locations! We’ll bid each other farewell after an exciting adventure!
